Tune of the week

Tune I've been listening to the most this week is this Jimi Needle's edit of Tightrope by Janelle Monae. I like both, but actually I much prefer this to the original.

In case you somehow missed the original...

Tune of the Week returns....

...with this little bit of class.

A Beatle and Easy Rider? What's not to like?!

Band On The Run (Keep Schtum Rough Dub Edit)

Tune of the week and a bonus

I'm highlighting a second Romano Gemini mashup this week. This one is a massive beast of funky beat rolling seriousness. I love Bobby C and Tina Turner is the boss lady, so to be fair, it was always on to a winner. ;) I shall also award this my tune of the week.

And for a bonus, here's a second mashup, this one from the mighty Jimi Needles.

Dre vs Fugees - Episode or Not (Jimi Needles Rewind)

Tune of the week and it's only Monday?!?!

Nick Pride & The Pimptones dare to cover the uncover-able and, well... they don't screw up :D Everyone with ears (ok, everyone who has ears and a brain not full of wank) loves Massive Attack's legendary Unfinished Sympathy and this cover lends it a beautiful summery vibe. Perfect for pretending it's not winter and putting a smile on the face  ;) This tune is a good and glorious thing, so go listen and then go buy it.

The PH funky edit of Minus 8's Badman & Throbin' is my tune of the week. HUGE ARSE KICKING BOOM SHIT OF OH ME OH MY!

Tune of the week

I remember the first time I heard Rose Rouge from St Germain's Tourist album, it was the year 2000 and I was on the last day of a holiday in Amsterdam. I immediately decided I must own this, but being the last day it was a bit of a rush and I couldn't find the album anywhere... So off we went and headed to Schiphol Airport. I popped into a shop to buy a magazine, glanced at the CD rack as I walked in and WTF! There it was straight in front of me :) Result!

Here we have Leftside Wobble giving this classic tune a gentle edit. To quote their wise words.. "This ones all about the rhythm track overdubs and subtle filtering. Sometimes an edit needs a very light touch and with a track so perfect this is certainly the case here."

Is actually a mix. Just heard this and it's destroyed my head with awesomeness. Yet again I must say, nice one Daytoner!

Tune of the week

There have been a great many Return of the Mac remixes over the years, but today I have a new favourite... Jimi Needles goes for a classic soul vibe and totally nails it. Most definitely my favourite tune of the last week too.

Free download from his facebook page as well, so go give the man a like via the button below.

ps: I will attempt to remember to do a tune of the week, every week...
